Joe is Head of Head of Photonics and RF where he is responsible for developing a range of optical communications, RF/Microwave and quantum technologies across multiple markets from Telecoms, through to transport, healthcare, and space.
He has over a decade experience working in the semiconductor industry with expertise in engineering lifecycle management, operations, qualification testing, and team leadership.
His industrial experience spans R&D, new product development, and manufacturing of laser sources and imaging sensors.
Prior to joining the Catapult, he gained significant experience working in the space industry for Teledyne e2v making high performing imaging sensors that fly in space.
As Technical Authority he was responsible for the design, manufacture, test and qualification of the sensors to meet the demands of harsh conditions.
He has a Masters Degree from the University of Durham specialising in the development of laser sources for quantum applications and is a member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET).
