National Manufacturing Institute Scotland
Dr Gladys Benghalia is currently the Head of Programmes – Electrification Manufacturing at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland.
Gladys joined the Advanced Forming Research Centre in 2015 as a research associate in materials science and residual stress. During this time, she led research programmes on the characterisation of residual stress due to quenching, ageing and machining processes in collaboration with a number of industrial partners, including Rolls-Royce and Boeing, as well as leading the development of non-destructive residual stress measurement using ultrasonic means.
Gladys then progressed to the role of Strategic Lead for Net Zero: Electrification at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland in 2018, combining electrical and manufacturing expertise and leading industrial engagement with the UK supply chain to secure a manufacturing base for the sustainable design and manufacture of high-value, high-integrity PEMDs (power electronics, machines, and drives) across multiple sectors.
