The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg assumed the office of the Sixth Premier of Sarawak on 13th January 2017 and is recognised as a visionary leader committed to transforming the state into a high-income, sustainable economy by 2030. An alumnus of Brunel University, UK, with a Master’s in Business Management, the Right Honourable has held key ministerial portfolios over more than four decades in public service.
In addition to serving as the Premier of Sarawak, the Right Honourable also holds the portfolios of Minister for Finance and New Economy, Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, and Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability. The Right Honourable places strong emphasis on advancing emission-free green technology, particularly Green Hydrogen, digital economy initiatives, and fostering global renewable energy partnerships.
Since 2017, significant collaborations have been established with leading international energy players, resulting in the development of hydrogen applications, technology transfers, and fuel cell vehicle pilot projects.
The Right Honourable also lead Sarawak’s digital transformation, positioning the state and Borneo as a global hub for innovation, technology, and sustainable growth.
